Yamamoto joins BCN Competicion

Sakon Yamamoto, the 2006 Super Aguri F1 Team test and race driver, has been unveiled as a BCN Competicion driver for the 2007 GP2 series. The Japanese driver will race for the Spanish squad alongside continuing his duties as test driver for the Japanese Formula One squad. 

"I am very happy and excited about challenging in such a competitive category as the GP2 series in 2007," beamed Yamamoto. "I would like to thank all the people who have supported me for realizing this opportunity. I will do as much as I can to fulfil the role in my position and I am looking forward to driving a GP2 car for the first time. I can´t wait for the forthcoming test!".

BCN team supreme Enrique Scalabroni was delighted to have signed Sakon as one of his race drivers for the forthcoming season. "Myself, Jaime Pintanel and the whole team are looking forward to a very successful GP2 series Championship, and all our efforts are going into the project. This is why we chose Sakon as our driver. In the next two weeks we will announce the name of Sakon's team-mate."
