Senna quickest of the rookies

Senna quickest of the rookies

13 April 2007

Bruno Senna, the late Ayrton Senna's nephew, is happy with his performance in qualifying especially as he is the highest of the debutants. He will be starting tomorrow's sprint race from fifth place, which exceeded his expectations.

"I think I'm happy with it," the Brazilian said.

"I was the best of the rookies, and that was a good thing for us because we weren't very quick in testing, but we've shown ourselves and the others that we can be good at other circuits than Ricard. I think top five is pretty good for the first qualifying. I was considering a top ten, so top five is even better.

"I didn't make too many mistakes - I went off the circuit only once, and it was because I was concentrating on something else! So that's a good thing, because it means that the car is consistent and I am consistent.

"I believe we can do a good race tomorrow. If we finish in the top ten I'll be happy - not so happy if I finish behind where I start, but these things can happen and there is still a whole lot more to come.

"If I can finish in the top eight I could be up the front for the next race, and it would be a good thing to learn how to control things from the front."
