Campos Racing had a mixed race as Giorgio Pantano retired on the first lap yet Vitaly Petrov managed to turn his 23rd starting position into a 14th place. Pantano is particularly disappointed as he felt he had a good chance of getting into a high position.
Giorgio Pantano commented: "It's a shame what has happened because we had a lot of confidence in doing a good start and fight for a podium and we had a good car. However, a problem with the gearbox has prevented us from doing a single lap."
Vitaly Petrov said: "This was my first race in Bahrain so being able to finish the race and gain nine places makes me very happy. It is a shame I had a little incident with Pizzonia, because if that had not happened I could have gain more positions. I want to congratulate the team because they were really good on the pit-stop."
