Zuber delighted with podium

Zuber delighted with podium

14 April 2007

Andreas Zuber has exceeded his expectations for the opening race of the GP2 Series season by getting onto the podium. The iSports International driver had an eventful race, like his team-mate Timo Glock his car was damaged, but the Austrian is simply enjoying being at the front of the pack.

"My aim was top five in qualifying and the race, so this is even better because it's a podium," the Austrian said.

"It was hard in the first two corners - I had actually a good start, but I just saw smoke in the first two corners! It was quite hard to arrive there, and my car is I think damaged, like Timo's. I was so happy when the first lap was behind me, and I just tried to keep the pace - I had too much oversteer, but other than that it was pretty good."

Zuber is keeping his goal for tomorrow's race fairly modest as he solely plans on scoring points from the third row.

"So far it is perfect for me, and I see that in the race the Arden cars are quite quick, because both were very good in the race, so we'll have to watch out for them in the race tomorrow."
