Lapierre ready for more victories

Lapierre ready for more victories

15 April 2007

Nicolas Lapierre took his first GP2 win today in Bahrain and also brought DAMS back to winning ways. The Frenchman is particularly relieved having suffered a terrible season last year with injuries and bad luck. He now wants to prove himself by winning a feature race.

Lapierre said how it felt: "Pretty good for me first of all but also for the team because it has been a long time since they've won a race in GP2.

"It's not like a Saturday race, but it's pretty good. We had Glock and Filippi there so it was a difficult race, but we stayed in the front, we had pretty good pace, and now we have to go ahead for the future - now we have to do a good qualifying and win a Saturday race.

"It's very important because since Monaco last year I haven't been on the podium, and when I came back I was not 100% yet physically, but over the winter I have trained a lot and I think I am really back like I was before, my back is like it was before, and I think this year we have everything to do a good season. The team is working hard, I have a good relationship with them, and we have had a good first race. We just need to go again and push in Barcelona."
