18 April 2007

Red Bull F1 test driver Michael Ammermueller finished Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix in the GP2 series in seventh position. Not a bad result for the by Red Bull supported young driver, especially when he found out he broke his wrist in Saturday's race.

Ammermueller and the team didn't realise it was broken. As the wriest was stiff and swollen he decided to get it further analysed and found out he broke his scaphoid bone in his wrist in the collision with Nakajima in Race 1. "I will most likely be operated on Friday, maybe even on Thursday already," Ammermueller said.

It normally takes about twelve weeks for the wrist to recover, but Ammermueller hopes to start in Spain in less than four weeks. "If the operation and rehabilitation flow smoothly I will perhaps be able to start in Barcelona," he hopes.
