Glock takes dominant pole

Timo Glock dominated qualifying today for the GP2 Spanish Grand Prix, beating the rest of the field by almost four tenths of a second. His team-mate Andreas Zuber was second fastest, ensuring an all iSport International front row for the feature race tomorrow.

Zuber had looked set for pole until Glock pulled out an impressive time of 1:27.713s in the closing stages to clinch his first pole of the season. Giorgio Pantano set the third fastest time but suffers a five-place grid penalty because of speeding under a yellow flag, so he will start from eighth.

That means that fourth fastest Lucas di Grassi will front the second row of the grid alongside DAMS' Nicolas Lapierre. In fact it was Lapierre's team-mate Kazuki Nakajima who would have been fourth but he also got given a grid penalty for taking Ho-Pin Tung out of the sprint race in Bahrain. He has been dropped ten places and will start in 15th.

Mike Conway will start from fifth on the grid in his Super Nova, whilst Arden's Bruno Senna makes up the top six. Borja Garcia for Durango and Bahrain feature race winner Luca Filippi in the second Super Nova start on the fourth row respectively.
