Conway joins Goodwood Festival of Speed

18 June 2007

Mike Conway, reigning British Formula 3 Champion and current GP2 Series driver with Super Nova, will be attending this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed and driving a Lamborghini Murciélago in the Supercar Run each day. Conway is also an Ambassador for Festival sponsors Lloyds TSB Private Banking and will be joining the company to meet guests at this popular annual motor racing spectacle.

The highlight of the weekend for Conway will be receiving the dunhill Future Champions Award which is set to take place on Friday at the Festival. Alfred Dunhill, the leading men's luxury brand, as sponsor of the Drivers' Club at the Festival of Speed, present the award each year to an up and coming driver to recognise their achievements in their motor racing career.

It will be Conway's first visit to the Festival of Speed, with the young driver never having driven up the famous Goodwood Hill Climb. His regular car, a GP2 Racer is a single seater, but he'll be in the comfort of a high-end road going sportscar for this event, with a passenger alongside as well.

He says of the Festival of Speed, "I've only seen snippets on television and read about the event in the press, so I'm really looking forward to being part of the event. I'm not really sure what to expect, but I guess there's going to be plenty of historic cars, as well as some more modern machines. I'm going to be in the Drivers Club and Goodwood House, attending the big party; it's all going to be new to me. I haven't driven a Lamborghini either, so it really will be a weekend of firsts."

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is not only a hillclimb event; it is the world's biggest and most diverse celebration of the history of motor sport. It is the only occasion where visitors will see in action the greatest competition carsand star driversfrom all eras: everything from 19th century steam carriages to current Formula One; fabulous racing motorcycles; classic rally cars to 3000bhp dragsters; plus motor sport legends like Moss, Surtees, Brabham and Andretti rubbing shoulders with today`s hottest properties such as Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso, Petter Solberg and Colin McRae.
