Glock fastest in opening practice

Glock fastest in opening practice

06 July 2007 / Results

Timo Glock was the fastest driver in this afternoon's free practice session. In the 30-minute practice session he completed 13 laps. He was just ahead of Mike Conway who will enjoy the support of his home crowd this weekend.

With just 0.059s separating Glock and Conway, the 23-year-old British hopeful was just a sniff off setting the fastest time. Conway made his GP2 debut at Silverstone a year ago in a one off race, replacing the injured Olivier Pla at DPR. Now with more experience, the reigning British F3 champion will be hoping to do a repeat performance of last year's crowd favourite Lewis Hamilton. Kazuki Nakajima was also in strong form in third for the DAMS team, ahead of Brazilians Bruno Senna and Lucas di Grassi.

Sixth fastest was Adam Carroll, who is looking more comfortable at FMS International, having made his GP2 comeback at Magny-Cours last weekend. Carroll will be pleased to be back at the more familiar Silverstone circuit, where last year he looked like the only real challenge to Hamilton in both GP2 races. Karun Chandhok was seventh fastest in his Durango, whilst Andreas Zuber in the second iSport International, Giorgio Pantano and Pastor Maldonado made up the top ten.
