Carroll wins home Grand Prix!
08 July 2007 / Results / PhotosAdam Carroll has won the second GP2 race in front of his home crowd on Sunday morning. The FMS driver was second for a long time but with seven laps to go the Briton managed to overtake Pastor Maldonado. Maldonado finished second, while Nakajima finished third again, just like he did in Saturday's race.
Sunday's GP2 sprintrace saw Roldan Rodriguez start from pole position as he finished Saturday's race in eigtht place. Rodriguez though wasn't able to take advantage from his pole position. Pastor Maldonado began from second position and easily took to lead into the first corner. He was followed by Adam Carroll and Lucas di Grassi.
During the race Timo Glock, who failed to finish on Saturday, and Bruno Senna had an interesting fight. Senna was on Glock's tail but was unable to overtake the German iSport driver.
Halfway into the race it was Adrian Zaugg who took out Timo Glock. Zaugg drove into the back of Glock's car and it was again the end of Glock's race. It must be getting frustrating for Glock has he hasn't finished a race since Monaco.
In the meantime the fight for the lead was getting more interesting. Pastor Maldonado was leading with eight laps to go but Briton Adam Carroll, who replaced Pizzonia at FMS, was getting closer and closer. With seven laps to go Carroll managed to overtake Maldonado.
Around the end of the race there was also an interesting fight between the Super Nova drivers. Luca Filippi and Mike Conway were fighting for fifth position. For a long time Filippi was able to keep Conway behind him but in the end Conway grabbed fifth. Not much later Filippi spun off the track and lost sixth position to Zuber.
