Glock savours perfect start to weekend
21 July 2007 / Results / PhotosTimo Glock got back to winning ways in the GP2 Series this afternoon at the Nurburgring. The German managed to convert his pole position into a win in today's feature race, despite falling behind championship rival Lucas di Grassi at the start. Glock is particularly happy to have made it to the chequered flag first at his home Grand Prix.
The iSport driver said: "We've had the perfect start to the weekend, especially with pole position and two points yesterday, and now the race win. It was tough, especially at the beginning: another bad start and I don't know why so we really have to look at that, especially for tomorrow where it's a bigger problem for that race.
"In the end I saved the right front tyre because I had a big flat spot on it, and I had only that picture of Raikkonen a couple of years ago when he lost his car in the last 2 laps, so I hoped only to finish the race."
The championship leader has come under some criticism recently for falling out of form. He has retired in the last four races at Magny-Cours and Silverstone so to get back to winning ways under these circumstances makes it even sweeter.
He added: "It's perfect when you've had two weekends like Magny Cours and Silverstone and you come back to your home race and get pole and win the race: I think that's the right answer for it."
