Carroll blasts driving standards
03 August 2007 / Results / PhotosAdam Carroll did well to qualify sixth in today's qualifying session for the feature race but criticised some of the other GP2 drivers for creating traffic. The FMS driver believes that he could have gone quicker if he had not been held up by other drivers not looking in their mirrors.

"It's incredible, the lack of driving standards out there," Carroll said. "It's quite simple. When you're not pushing then you know you're going slow and you HAVE to look in your mirrors. It's that simple. There were people literally driving around like they're out on a Sunday drive. It was quite frustrating. There was traffic on every lap.
"I had a yellow flag for two laps, then I spun which was my own fault, then I had traffic again and literally the last lap was my first lap with no traffic. Even the lap that I spun, the traffic was in front of me. I just was like, please let me have a clear lap, and the very last lap I think I crossed it with only seconds to go. To start sixth is good. We can have a race from there. It's better than 15th isn't it!"
Carroll hopes to overcome the track's tricky idiosyncrasies to enjoy a strong race from the third row.
"This is a very good circuit," he added. "It's difficult, and I think it's got a lot bumpier since last year. It's really hard work, just with the bumps on the circuit. It really throws a lot of problems into putting a lap together as well, just to top everything off. Hopefully we can make that a bit better for tomorrow and get a good consistent car for the race and be kind to the tyres. That's what we need to do because it is quite hard around here on the tyres as well."
