Giorgio Pantano felt he could have qualified higher than his fourth place after going fastest in practice this morning and looking quick all afternoon. However the Campos driver believes that a front row slot would have been unlikely given the superiority of the iSport drivers.
"To compete with the iSport guys you have to make the perfect lap," the Italian said. "We were nearly there but I came a bit quick into Turn 11 and had too much oversteer and I had to slow down. From there it was yellow flags, I had some traffic so I was not allowed to have another clear lap... But anyway I'm not sure if I have a chance to do a 1:27.5, but for sure a low 28 or 27.9 for sure."
Pantano remains upbeat of doing better in tomorrow's race after some encouraging race performances of late.
We have quite a good car during the race and I'm sure we are competitive. It's just a question of the start and then the strategy.
