
Veteran Giorgio Pantano is the fastest driver going into this afternoon's qualifying session for the Hungarian Grand Prix having topped this morning's practice session. With a time of 1:28.992s, the Campos Racing driver was two tenths ahead of Kazuki Nakajima of DAMS, who was a further tenth quicker than Pastor Maldonado.
Title rivals Luca Filippi and Timo Glock were fourth and fifth fastest ahead of Glock's iSport team-mate Andreas Zuber in sixth. British hopefuls Adam Carroll and Mike Conway were eleventh and 20th respectively. Sakon Yamamoto's replacement at BCN Markus Niemela struggled on his debut. The Finn was 25th and last, almost a second off 24th fastest Borja Garcia.
