Di Grassi moves closer towards championship lead

Lucas di Grassi has moved to within a point of the GP2 Championship lead after finishing fourth in the Sunday sprint race at the Hungaroring. The ART GP driver also finished fourth in Saturday's race, and thus started the sprint event from fifth with the ART car. He lost a place in the run down to the first corner, bur regained it soon afterwards with a bold move on Borja Garcia into Turn One.

He then became part of a train of cars on the tail of leader Adrian Zaugg, and when the South African was pushed wide, Lucas moved up to fourth. He then resisted strong pressure from title rival Timo Glock, before the German driver retired. Lucas now has 54 points to the 55 of Glock.

"Overall it was a positive weekend, although it could have been better," said Di Grassi. "I was leading quite comfortably in race one, and then some strange things happened with crashes and the safety car. Today we had a mechanical issue during the race, which made me lose one second per lap after half of the race, so it was very difficult. We are going to check out what the problem is, but we think it was the gearbox.

"I had to push in the beginning because I lost a place in the first corner - it wasn't as good a start as yesterday! I'm very pleased that even not having a perfect weekend we closed the gap so much, and in the last four races, we're going to go for the championship. And that's what matters, to win the championship and not to be the guy showing off."
