Rodriquez: I could have won
05 August 2007 / Results / PhotosRoldan Rodriquez is happy with his first podium in the GP2 Series during this afternoon's sprint race in Budapest and is even adamant he could have won had he not collided with Adrian Zaugg when challenging for the lead on lap nine.
"I'm very happy," said the Minardi Team Piquet driver. "I'm not 100% happy because I think I could win the race. I had the rhythm and, with regards to the overtaking move [on Zaugg], I think he close the door and we crash. Anyway I'm so happy with the first podium and I hope to be there more times in the season."
Rodriquez had big shoes to fill at the start of 2007 when he joined Minardi Team Piquet - the team originally built around race-winning Nelson Piquet Jr. However, the Spaniard believes that the new combination is improving all the time.
During all the season the team is working in a very good way with me and we are adapting the car for myself. The car was for Piquet and was good for his style. The car is very fast but we have to adapt to myself and we are doing that each race and we can see in the results each race we are going faster and faster.
