Villa takes Hungarian sprint win

Javier Villa won today's sprint race in Budapest - his third of the season - after starting from pole position. Adam Carroll was just over a second away from winning his second race of the weekend but was happy to settle for second. Roldan Rodriguez completed the podium.

Lucas di Grassi was fourth and with Glock not scoring, the Brazilian moves to just one point behind leader Glock in the standings. Borja Garcia was fifth ahead of iSport's Andreas Zuber. Giorgio Pantano, Mike Conway, Vitaly Petrov and Kohei Hirate completed the top ten.

At the start, Adrian Zaugg took the lead ahead of pole-sitter Javier Villa. However the pair was closely pursued by Roldan Rodriguez and eventually Adam Carroll who had got off to a great start from eighth. Soon Rodriguez sharply found a way past Villa but collided with Adrian Zaugg when trying to overtake the South African on lap nine. Both drivers fell back with Rodriguez making his way back upto third and Zaugg getting himself into further trouble later on with Nakajima - the pair's collision ending Zaugg's race. Back at the front Villa and Carroll were battling for the lead with the FMS climbing all over the back of Racing Engineering car's gearbox.

With five laps remaining Timo Glock, who had been fighting with title rival Lucas di Grassi, suffered a mechanical failure and retired in the pits. Karun Chandhok, who was running in sixth, suffered a similar fate on the final lap, pushing Andreas Zuber into the points.
