Bakkerud's weekend comes to an end

Bakkerud's weekend comes to an end

25 August 2007

Christian Bakkerud will sit out the rest of the weekend after aggravating his back injury
DPR's Christian Bakkerud has been forced to sit out the remainder of this weekend's action after succumbing to an aggravation of the back problem he picked up in Barcelona earlier in the year.

The Dane was clearly in pain after the last round in Hungary, and despite visiting a specialist in the recent break, his affliction came back to haunt him yesterday during practice. Christian sat out the afternoon's qualifying session, and after consultation with the FIA medics last night and this morning the decision has been taken for him not to race in order to allow him to rest and recover.

This latest recurrance of Christian's back injury will be a bitter blow for the amiable Dane who has impressed many this year with his strong mid-field battles, which have often taken place with the DPR driver battling through immense pain.
