Confidence high for Senna after strong showing at Spa

Bruno Senna put in an outstanding drive today in the GP2 sprint race at Spa, finishing eighth from 24th on the grid. The Brazilian has proved this weekend his talent on one of the most challenging motor racing circuit on the calendar, and will take this confidence to the final round in Valencia in two weeks time.

Starting from 24th on the grid following an accident in yesterday's feature race, Bruno made an amazing start, moving up to eighth by the first corner. He lost one position later on in the lap, but regained it on lap five. He then moved up to seventh when Javier Villa was given a drive through penalty. On lap 14 he fell back to eighth when Adam Carroll overtook him, but fended off pressure over the closing laps from Kazuki Nakajima to cross the line in eighth.

The final two races of the GP2 Series will take place in two weeks time at the Valencia Circuit in Spain. Heading into the last round, Bruno is currently eighth in the championship on 34 points. However, eighth to fourth positions are separated by just two points, so there is all to play for in Spain.

Bruno Senna: "To get no points for such a good race is a shame, but I did have good fun. My start was good - I wanted to make up for yesterday's stall - and that put me in a good position on the first corner. I overtook quite a few cars and then took Conway and Buemi, which was a pretty good manoeuvre. Conway took me back later on, then I overtook Petrol and started to try to catch Conway again. Unfortunately then I think I pushed a little bit too hard and my brakes started to go and I started to struggle. Towards the end of the race it was hard to control it and that allowed Carroll to overtake me when my rear brakes locked up. So, it was good fun but a shame to get no rewards."
