Oviedo enjoys Racing Engineering and Villa demonstration
21 September 2007 / PhotosRacing Engineering's driver Javier Villa was the star of a spectacular exhibition held in Oviedo's city centre as part of the festivities of the capital of Asturias Principality, birthplace of the driver. A nearly 1 kilometer long track was laid out through two of Oviedo's main streets and with a crowd estimated at more than 200,000 people by the organisers, the Oviedo Council, Javi drove the cars that he was been competing throughout his career and, for the past three years, those in conjunction with Racing Engineering.

After starting the exhibition at the wheel of a go-kart and continuing with the Formula Junior, his first single seater, backed by Repsol as part of the Racing for Spain team, it was time for Javi to take a turn at the wheel of the two Racing Engineering cars that have allowed him to climb to the top rungs of the GP2 series. First there were several laps at the wheel of the Dallara F3 that put him among the main contenders for the 2005 Spanish F3 Championship and then came the real highlight of the event, the demonstration of the Racing Engineering Dallara GP2, the same car the young Spaniard has been driving at Monza the week before.
Surrounded by the enthusiasm of thousands of his fans, Javi made a simulated start, a pit stop where the Racing Engineering mechanics quickly changed the tyres and several laps on the track ending with a series of doughnuts that were the perfect finale for the event that was featured live on the Asturias Principality TV channel.
