Caroll to test with I-Sport and Minardi Piquet

26 September 2007

Adam Carroll will test with both GP2 potential champions I-Sport International and Minardi Piquet Sports at the Jerez test on Thursday and Friday this week.

GP2 is a series the 24 year old, from Portadown in Northern Ireland, loves and knows well with five victories to his name at Imola, Monaco and Spa in 2005 with Supernova and a win in Hungary and at Silverstone this year with FMS International.

The Jerez test takes place before the final round of the season at Valencia and all teams will use the 2007 cars. The 2008 cars will be delivered in January but this is the first chance for teams to look ahead and test drivers for the "2nd generation" of GP2.

I-sport International could win the 2007 championship this weekend at Valencia with their driver Timo Glock. Adam will test for the Norfolk based outfit on Thursday.

Paul Jackson, Team Principle said "We approached Adam to test for us as we want as strong a package for next year as we can get and Adam ticks all the boxes. He is a proven race winner, has plenty of experience and if the commercial side comes together, then he is the ideal candidate."

On Friday Adam will switch to the Italian-based Minardi Piquet Sports and Team boss Felipe Vargas also values Adam's contribution. "I have watched Adam closely over the years - he and Nelson Piquet Jr competed against each other. I have always admired his racing and thought 'here is some one I'd like to see at the wheel of one of our cars'. I believe we will be able to put together a good sponsorship package for 2008 and, in this case, Adam would be amongst the top of our "wish list" for GP2 2008".

When testing duties conclude, Adam heads to Valencia and the final round of the championship where he hopes to bag some more points for himself and his current team FMS International.
