Senna finishes 8th in championship

30 September 2007

Bruno Senna today wrapped up his maiden GP2 Series season as he competed in the sprint race at Valencia. Unfortunately, due to a low grid position following yesterday's retirement, he was unable to finish the season on the high that he would have hoped to but, nevertheless, after beginning in 19th place he was able to make up five places to cross the finish line in 15th.

The race brought Bruno's debut season to a conclusion. The season has been on the whole extremely positive for the Brazilian, who only resumed single-seater racing three years ago after ten years out of the sport.

The 23-year-old won the feature race in Barcelona on just his second weekend in the series, and followed that up with two other podiums in Magny Cours and Monza. He finished the drivers' championship in a very solid eighth position with 34 points.

Bruno Senna: "This weekend has obviously been disappointing because I really wanted to end the season with a good result and we had been making some progress. Although the results have been a little up and down, I have to be happy overall with the season. Our aim at the start of this year was to finish in the top ten and we have achieved that well. I also could never have imagined winning the race so early on in the season, and although it's a shame I didn't get another win, I did get a couple of podiums. I have learned a lot this year and will just keeping working hard and improving. I think I have shown what I can do when the car is good and now I have to concentrate on doing even better next year."
