Tung joins Trident

10 January 2008

The Trident Racing team has announced Ho-Pin Tung as the team's new driver. Tung will not only compete in the European GP2 series but will also race in the new GP2 Asia series. In two weeks time the first race will start in Dubai.

Trident team boss Alessandro Alunni Bravi and Tung signed the agreement for the Asian and European GP2 championship at the team's headquarters in Milan. In the European GP2 series Tung will be partnered by Mike Conway who competed with Super Nova last year.

Speaking about Trident Tung said: "It's a young and dynamic team which presents itself with style. More important is that the team is extremely professional and makes no concessions when it comes to quality, resources, technological choices and efficiency. I have been here a couple of times now and I am impressed by the resources and dedication and by the technological level of the team.

"Last year I gained a lot of experience which is essential in this ultra competative series. This year I can use my experience in a top calibre team and contribute to further developing the car and the team. This opportunity provides me with another important step in my career leading to Formula One."
