Today the Dams team wound up its first 2-day test session on the Dubai circuit with its 2 drivers, Kamui Kobayashi and Jérôme d'Ambrosio, in preparation for the GP2 Asia Championship.
Kamui Kobayashi worked through his car's set-up in a methodical fashion and ended the last half-day's testing in fourth place. Belgian Jérôme d'Ambrosio was not so lucky. He had very little track time today due to a technical problem linked to the gearbox. On Saturday afternoon he set the eighth-quickest time, though.
"Despite limited running time on Saturday we managed to complete our technical programme and we've made good progress," said Kobayashi. "On each run the car's set-up improved, as did the track conditions. I'm satisfied with my performance, and I'm looking forward to starting the next sessions at the same rhythm."
Jérôme d'Ambrosio commented, "I was quite familiar with the GP2 car, having driven it on the Paul Ricard circuit previously. Unfortunately, a technical problem put me out of action for most of the second day. I've done very little running over the two days and it's all rather frustrating. Our aim for the next session will be to make up for the time lost and do as many laps as possible. I took advantage of this session to hone my relationship with the team. On this side, it's been a positive couple of days."
