Meritus making progress in Dubai

Luca Filippi topped today's morning session in Dubai in preparation of the opening of the 2008 GP2 Asia Series. The second of the two days test prior to the inaugural round of the newly born GP2 Asia series resumed on Sunday under bright sun at Dubai circuit for the 26 cars of the new series. 

"I am happy with my times and the results, but there is still place for improvement," said Filippi. "We are only starting to understand the new car and which directions we need to take to develop our working program so that the team can progress quicker. I would also like to be able to compare my times to Hiroki's when the electronics with the new safety system is finally sorted out."

Team boss Peter Thompson commented, "It was an encouraging start of the day for Filippi. The team is working on matching the two cars so that the two drivers have the same tools. Considering that we have never run in this championship, this is a very good achievement in the weekend preparations. There are three more working sessions before the race."
