Soucek fastest in shortened free practice

The first GP2 Asia season got underway on Friday morning with a free practice session in Dubai. In the shortened 20-minute session Andy Soucek completed the fastest time. The DPR driver set a fastest lap at 1.21.870. With ten minutes to go in the session Luca Filippi crashed his car in the wall, causing red flags.

The free practice session was cut short as the marshals were unable to clear the track within the remaining ten minutes.

In the first free practice session of the season DPR driver Andy Soucek was almost half a second faster than his rivals. Bruno Senna and Adrian Valles were half a second behind on Soucek, but the duo has shown in test session earlier this week that they are both well on the pace.

Minardi Piquet Sport driver Marcello Puglisi faced a difficult debut. The 21-year-old completed only three laps.
