Progress for DPR at Monaco

Progress for DPR at Monaco

23 May 2008

David Price Racing brought home both its GP2 cars today, competing in the first of the two races at the third round of the Series, at the infamous Monaco street circuit. Andy Soucek, back in the DPR car this weekend to assist the team whilst regular driver Herck is injured, showed strong pace during practice, but an incident during qualifying prevented him from showing his true potential in today's race, crossing the line in 13th place. Diego Nunes made his debut at the tight and twisty Monaco Circuit, with a solid drive to bring his car home in 15th place.

David Price commented after the Feature Race, "Before qualifying we were quite optimistic ahead of the race. Andy was really quick in practice and we knew he had the car underneath him to get the job done. Unfortunately on his first qualifying run in his efforts to make the most of a clear track, he was a little bit hasty on the cold tyres and pushed too soon, so ended up damaging the car in an incident putting him out of qualifying. We should have had a top five start for the race, but it didn't happen, and that impacted on today's race for Andy.

"We have to take the positives though; both drivers reached the chequered flag unscathed on a circuit which is renowned for incidents," he added. "We are always quick out of the box here at Monaco, but we just don't seem to be able to turn it into results. We are in a good position for tomorrow's race though, and hopefully we can get some points."
