
On Friday afternoon the race fans in Monaco saw a Senna on the highest step of the podium again. While is uncle is record holder, winning the Monaco Grand Prix six times, Bruno Senna claimed his first victory in Monaco on Friday afternoon with his iSport team. Senna managed to keep Maldonado behind him from the start. Karun Chandhok finished in third as Villa pushed Mike Conway out of the race in the final lap while running in third.
Friday's GP2 race started at 11.15 with 25 drivers instead of 26. BCN driver Milos Pavlovic pulled out of the Grand Prix weekend after an indisposition emerged on Thursday evening according to a team statement.
At the start of the race Bruno Senna managed to overtake pole position man Pastor Maldonado entering the first corner. In the opening lap there was just one crash as Vitaly Petrov crashed into the side of Kamui Kobayashi.
Halfway into the race the fans saw Sebastien Buemi trying to overtake Giorgio Pantano. The duo touched and Pantano spun around forcing most drivers behind him to stop and waiting for the Italian to continue his way.
After the pitstops Mike Conway was racing in third position. The Briton showed a great performance until Javier Villa, being one lap down on Conway, pushed him out of the race coming out of the tunnel. A frustrated Conway had to give up his race but was classified in 8th position as the rest of the field was at least one lap down on Bruno Senna already.
For Bruno Senna it was his second victory in GP2 as he was joined by Pastor Maldonado and iSport team mate Karun Chandhok.
