Sebastien Buemi and Yelmer Buurman claimed first and second place during the French Grand Prix' sprint race on Sunday morning. The Trust Team Arden drivers began their race on slick tyres while the track was still wet. It proved to be the right team decision as the duo easily raced towards a one-two finish. Luca Filippi finished third.

The sprint race at Magny-Cours was intersting from the start. The race began at a wet track and the top eight drivers decided to start the race on wet weather tyres. Most drivers in the back of the field decided to gamble and start the race on slicks. At the start of the race the slicks proved to offer very little grip and costs those on slicks a lot of time.

Romain Grosjean, starting from the back of the grid on wet weather tyres, easily worked himself up the field and after three laps the Frenchman was racing in ninth position already. Mike Conway kept the lead from the start but as the track dried up the drivers with wet weather tyres had to pit for slicks and thus losing valuable time.

As the track dried up and drivers with wet weather tyres were pitting the drivers on slicks easily moved up the field and it wasn´t for long until the fans at Circuit de Nevers would see Trust Team Arden driver Yelmer Buurman take the lead. He was followed by his team mate Sebastien Buemi and Alvaro Parente. Bruno Senna was already in fourth position, while the Brazilian started his raec from 23rd.

Buurman managed to build up a gap on team mate Buemi but with less than ten laps to go Buemi started to gain on his team mate. Buemi managed to overtake Buurman at the hairpin with six laps to go. The Swiss driver was never challenged after his overtaking maneuvre and claimed his first GP2 victory of the season. Buemi was joined on the podium by his team mate Yelmer Buurman and ART Grand Prix driver Luca Filippi.
