"It couldn't be better," Rodriguez said. "It couldn't have been better. This is one of the happiest days of my life. The team and its director, Tancredi, make me feel very confident and I dedicate this pole to them. I had been trying to get a pole for a long time, but this sport is very difficult and a result like this depends on many different features. Today I had the car and the team, and that's how I was able to do it".
Speaking about the many red flags Rodriguez said: "It was madness, because I started with used tyres and couldn't even set a lap before the first red flag, and then with new tyres I could barely make one lap before the next on. I was fifth and the team told me I had the possibility of another lap. I did my best and achieved the pole in the last second."
And thus Rodriguez had to complete his fastest lap with just one shot at the pole position. "Yes, and the tyres weren't completely new, they had three laps already. But I was calmed and tried to preserve the tyres during the red flags and warm them. In the end everything went well."
