The GP2 series announced its grid and calendar for the 2009 GP2 Series. A total of thirteen teams have been confirmed for next season. There are a few changes as BCN Competicion is purchased by Ocean Racing Technology, while Arden will be called 'Arden International' next season.

In 2009, the GP2 series starts its season in Barcelona, Spain where the Formula One circus will open their European season. This event will be the first of nine weekends as the official Formula One support series. The 2009 championship will be concluded with the one stand-alone event of the season in Portimao in mid-September. This will mark the first time that the GP2 Series race in Portugal.
