Clos joins Racing Engineering

The 20-year-old Dani Clos will join Racing Engineering in the GP2 main series this season. The former F3 Euroseries driver is the first driver to be announced by the team. It will be the Spaniard's first season in GP2.

Dani Clos began his racing career in 1997, entering in the Spanish and Catalonian Junior Karting Championships. During the following six years, the new Racing Engineering driver won several karting titles and stepped up to single-seater racing in 2004 participating in the Formula Junior 1.6, where he finished fourth.

Formula Renault was the next step in Dani's rising career, and for two seasons he participated in the European and Italian Championship, being crowned champion in Italy. After two very good seasons in the F3 Euroseries, Dani, who is part of Williams' Young Drivers Program, had the opportunity to tests with the British F1 team at two occasions at the end of the 2008.

In 2009 Dani will participate in GP2 with Racing Engineering and is looking forward to his debut in this competitive championship, which he regards as the logic step in his career to achieve his ultimate goal, get a racing seat in Formula 1.

Clos commented on his upcoming GP2 debut: "For me it is a great opportunity to be with a team like Racing Engineering, from a personal as well as sportive point of view. We have been working hard for many years to get to the top. I believe that GP2 is essential for the improvement of a professional driver. It is my priority this year to understand the car as much as possible and take the most advantage of the experience of a winning team, to reach the highest level. I have a lot of confidence in Racing Engineering's people and believe that is a fundamental part to be able to advance and improve in each race."
