Lucas Di Grassi has closed the Paul Ricard test by remaining at the top of the standings. A satisfactory result for Vitaly Petrov placed the Russian second for Addax, as Di Grassi's team-mate Dani Clos completed the top ten. Just 1.3 seconds covered the whole field of 26 cars.
Behind the top two, Zuber finished third for Fisichella Motorsport with Maldonado's ART and Javier Villa in the Super Nova rounding out the top five. Series newcomer Alberto Valerio impressed with sixth place as Portugal's Parente, on his third day with Ocean Racing Technology, was in seventh place.

"This was a very productive day and everyone did a good job," fastest man Di Grassi said at the end of the session. "We still have Barcelona to go to next week and there is room for improvement, although the test here in Paul Ricard has been good and we have definitely started off on the right foot - I am sure that we have a very good season ahead of us".
"The boys have done a really good job," commented a happy Racing Engineering owner Alfonso de Orleans. "Our intentions were not to top the timesheets, but I guess everyone's efforts have allowed that bonus to happen; the entire team - engineers, mechanics and drivers - have worked hard in preparation for this test and, although things have gone well here, we still have an intense programme to work on during the next session in Barcelona".
Valsecchi's Durango suffered difficulties with an engine problem bringing a premature end to the day after just 46 laps: "Over the course of the three days neither myself nor my engine have been brilliant, but if we are going to have troubles it is better that they've happened today". Rookie team-mate Nelson Panciatici finished the day 25th and was in awe of the general pace: "I am impressed with the performances of the GP2 cars, and to drive such a car is really fantastic."
The next GP2 running will take place at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya next week.
