Ocean ready for Sepang challenge

01 April 2009

The Ocean Racing Technology team is ready for the high levels of temperature and humidity in Malaysia this weekend, as well as the heavy rain which is set for the week. For the first time this GP2 Asia season, the teams will be sharing the paddock with the Formula 1 circus for the championships' sixth and second rounds respectively.

"The GP2 Asia Series has been really important for the team, to help us find good rhythm and consistency," said team owner Tiago Monteiro. "It is important to underline that we entered the championship in its second round, and that the second race in Dubai was cancelled because of the torrential rain; this means we have not put the mileage under our belts that we wanted to, for the foundations of the team. Sepang will therefore be our third race weekend, and our aim is to find a good rhythm and to try some solutions that could be useful in the GP2 Main Series - to secure some points in Malaysia would be proof that we are on the right track."

With the Asia Series due to finish after the Bahrain event on 26 April, Ocean continued its preparation for the main series at Barcelona's three-day test last week. Owners Monteiro and José Guedes were pleased with the performances of drivers Alvaro Parente and Karun Chandhok, with constant improvements from Monday to Wednesday, and the former setting Tuesday's overall quickest lap time.
