Super Nova drivers penalised ahead of qualifying

Super Nova's start to the 2009 championship received a blow as the team received three place penalties heading into qualifying in Barcelona. As a result of the action taken by the FIA-appointed stewards, both drivers will now start Saturday's race three positions further back from their qualifying slots.

The grid drops for Luca Filippi and Javier Villa were handed to the drivers after both were judged to have failed to slow under yellow flag conditions in Friday's first practice session of the season.

The incident, which led to both men being called before the stewards, took place early on in the session after a spin from Alberto Valerio's . Although it was decided by stewards that Villa has not slowed sufficiently under yellow flag conditions, Filippi's punishment was more clear cut after the Italian spun to almost collected the stranded car.
