Parente dispirited by 'unfortunate' incident

Alvaro Parente was more than disappointed to be walking away from Barcelona having registered no points. The Ocean Racing Technology driver was involved in a coming together in Saturday's feature race which yielded a lowly grid position and failure to climb to the points on Sunday afternoon.

Fourteenth on the grid after Friday qualifying saw Portuguese Parente starting in the heat of the midfield battle, although a late-race collision with Lucas di Grassi at Turn 4 put an end to both drivers' Saturday afternoons in Race 1. Sunday's sprint saw a climb from 19th to eventually finish 11th, although no points were collected.

"It was an unfortunate race incident," explained Parente of his feature race collision. "We were fighting each other but at the same time I had to defend my positions from several drivers who were threatening me. When Mortara overtook di Grassi, he broke earlier than usually entering Turn 4 and I lost the rear when I hit the brakes.

"It is really a shame because we had fixed all the problems we suffered in qualifying and the car was much more competitive. At least we can keep a positive aspect from this race - we have what it takes to secure some good points and that will be our aim in Monaco."
