Frenchman Franck Perera will be making a return to GP2 at the Nürburgring this weekend after last racing in the series in 2006. A competitor in the Superleague Formula and in American races over the last two seasons, Perera will be joining David Price Racing alongside Romania's Michael Herck.
Driver of AS Roma's Superleague team and Conquest Racing in the IndyCar Series since last being in GP2, ex-DAMS driver Perera will be back out on track for the German round of 2009 this weekend.
"I am really pleased with the chance that (team boss) Andrè Herck and DPR have offered me to return to GP2 after three years," Perera, who last drove a GP2 car in a February 2007 test with Racing Engineering, told 422race.com. "I will give my all to be competitive right away and bring with me my experience gained in various categories." In moving to the team, Perera takes the place of Italy's Giacomo Ricci.
