British television viewers will again be able to enjoy GP2 race action for free for the remainder of the 2009 season, courtesy of Eurosport. The broadcaster, which has shown the series in the past before being succeeded by ITV, takes the reigns from pay-per-view channel Setanta Sports.
With British Formula One coverage having moved from ITV to the BBC this season, the Porche Supercup support event for Grand Prix weekends is already being shown on British Eurosport, with GP2 now rejoining the package for the first time since 2007.
With the German round of the F1 feeder series taking place at the Nürburgring this weekend, Sunday's Sprint race will be transmitted live at 10:30am British time (BST / GMT +1) although the Feature race on Saturday will be shown delayed at 7:15pm.
"We are delighted to have this prestigious and exciting series back on British Eurosport and to be able to ensure that fans can see the rest of this season's races!" said an excited Dave Kerr, director of British Eurosport. "It's great to add GP2 to our already superb line-up of motorsport, which includes the World Touring Car Championship, World Rally Championship, Formula 2, the Dakar Rally, the World Series by Renault and the IRC."
