Trident mechanic seriously injured

A mechanic of the Trident team lies in a Belgian hospital on Saturday evening following a freak but serious incident in the Spa-Francorchamps pit lane shortly before the feature race.

Vasco Rossi's accident led to the fifteen-minute delay of the race's getaway after Ricardo Teixeira's rear wheel hit a wheel gun on the ground. It is believed the pulling of the tool, which was attached to a cable, brought down heavy components onto the head of Rossi.

The team has explained that the mechanic's injuries are not life-threatening although Rossi has been placed into an induced coma.
