Durango staying out until 2010

16 September 2009

Durango has revealed that, having missed the last two races at Monza, it will not be returning for the season-ending event in Portugal this weekend. The Italian team believes that not attending is a 'better solution' at present.

Last Friday, shortly before practice in Italy, Durango explained that the loss of one car following Stefano Coletti's Spa accident plus the driver's later sickness at Monza forced the team to pull out. With Portimao the last meeting on the calendar, the team has cut short its season by electing not to compete.

"Our trucks were already travelling to Portugal but this race is not in conjunction with Formula One, which made it difficult to find drivers for the Portimao races," Team Principal Ivone Pinton explained.

"At this stage, instead of persisting in seeking for drivers who are maybe not ready for such a commitment, we preferred to withdraw from the event. I am sure that at this stage that this pause is the better solution for us all."
