Bird joins ART for GP2 Asia Series

F3 Euroseries driver Sam Bird has taken another important step in his career by joining the ART Grand Prix team for the upcoming GP2 Asia Series. Bird's first appearance for the squad will be at next week's pre-season test in Abu Dhabi.         

"I am thrilled about this opportunity to drive for ART," said Bird. "We have come close to working together several times in the past but, for a number of reasons, it never quite happened; but there is a reason for everything and perhaps our time to shine together is now. I really want to thank Frédéric Vasseur (team boss) for putting his trust in me and offering me this opportunity of a continued collaboration."

"Sam was very close to joining our team at the beginning of this season and, despite competing against each other, we have maintained an excellent relationship," Vasseur added. "We would like to end this season with wins in Abu Dhabi and Macau and we believe that Sam will be a major asset in our attempt to reach our objective."

As explained by Vasseur, Bird will also join ART in next month's famous Macau F3 race to drive alongside team-mates Valtteri Bottas and Jules Bianchi, this year's F3 Euroseries Champion.
