The Trident team has named its drivers for the upcoming GP2 Asia Series, with the championship scheduled to begin in Abu Dhabi next weekend. Spearheading the line-up of the Italian outfit will be Bulgaria's Plamen Kralev alongside Venezuela's Johnny Cecotto.
With Cecotto Jr. having made his GP2 Main Series debut at Monza this year, the son of the same-named former motorcycling and British Touring Car star first ran with Trident in Jerez's post-season test session. Racer and businessman Kralev brings to the squad experience amassed in the Le Mans Series as well as the International GT Open championship.

"Despite the unfavourable economic times, we noted that the third edition of the GP2 Asia Series will kick off with a large grid and also quality," commented Trident Managing Director Luca Zerbini. "The Trident Racing drivers are two very different people; Kralev is a driver who sees the world of cars with detail and enthusiasm, which I think will be positive.
"Cecotto is a young and very promising driver, as we have already seen in tests held at Paul Ricard with the car Main Series. We are confident and giving it the maximum to be strong."
